Episode 3: Why We Read Meditation Books

Highlight Podcast Quote: 'Train your subconscious to get out of the way'

As we continue our journey into mindfulness meditation, we strongly believe in supplementing our experiences with literature that provides different ideas and new perspectives from other mindfulness practitioners.  In a world filled with attention grabbing apps, streaming video services, and a constant barrage of alerts that demand our attention, it often feels like an uphill battle to find even a bit of time for ourselves, let alone read an entire book.  However, there are several well documented benefits to reading and studying a topic.

In this episode, we discuss the myriad benefits of reading mindfulness meditation books and how reading books can help supplement and advance your mindfulness meditation practice.  After we explore the benefits of reading about meditation, in addition to doing meditation, we start with a discussion about our first recommended book, 10 Percent Happier by Dan Harris.   This book provides “a skeptic’s perspective” on mindfulness meditation.

So join us on our third episode where we discuss how reading books can benefit your practice and also provide ways to train your subconscious to get out of the way.
